Marie Curie

Marie Curie was the first woman scientist to receive the Nobel Prize. She was born in Poland on November 7, 1867 and died in France on July 4 at the age of 66. She graduated from the University of Paris with a degree in physics. I admire her because she did research on radioactive substances. Together with her husband Pierre Curie they discovered the elements Radium and Polonium, both of which are more radioactive than Uranium. However, at that time, because she was a woman, she was not as well known for her work and the compliments were taken away by her husband. Due to an accident where her husband died she took his place at work becoming the first woman to hold the chair of physics at Soborna University, that is, she became the first woman professor at that university. Much later she won her second Nobel Prize for her conclusion that radiation therapy could be a treatment for cancer. I hope you liked Marie Curie's story, she is a very admirable woman for everything she did, and she should have been more valued for science. See you next week.
